The Revelations return from concert tour of Indonesia and Singapore

 

The Revelations  was recently invited to perform as guests at the Tomohon International Choral Competition & Symposium held in Indonesia in August. The Revelations were privileged to perform at the closing ceremony of the symposium, opening ceremony of the competition, and in addition staged two full length concerts of their own as well, to a capacity audience where their music was so enjoyed that the entire crowd was on their feet in front of the stage dancing, clapping and singing along. “This was an unbelievable experience for us”, said Sanjeev – Leader/Choral Director of the Revelations, “as the crowd was so responsive and really gave us fantastic encouragement with their total and wholehearted participation in the concert. At one point it ceased to be a performance by an a-cappella group and turned into something more closely resembling the audience participation at a rock concert”.  In addition the Revelations also participated in the performance of the Nelson Mass by Haydn, and the Coronation Anthems of Handel together with a joint choir and orchestra from around the world. “We are grateful to Professor de Quadros of the US, and Mr. Tommyanto Kandisaputra of Indonesia, together with the Tomohon city council for having invited us to perform” said Sanjeev.

 

The symposium and competition had participating choirs and jury from the US, Canada, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Philippines, Singapore and the hosts Indonesia.

 

Leaving Indonesia the Revelations stopped by in Singapore en route home, to again perform as guest artistes at the Singapore International a-cappella Competition held at the Singapore Esplanade. Sanjeev – leader of the group, was also invited to officiate as one of the international panel of judges at the international, Singapore open and high school categories.

 

Priyan de Livera – Manager of the group when asked for his impressions of the tour said,

“International  Choral Competitions provide the opportunity to bring together Choirs from all over the world, no matter which continent they come from, to perform, to compare and to experience the enthusiasm of singing together.

"It was a delightful experience for all our members to come to terms with the spontaneous and overwhelming audience response to all our performances In Tomohon, Indonesia. It was an awesome experience for everyone especially  our younger members who  were surrounded by ecstatic  hordes of fans wherever we went. On the return journey home, the stopover in Singapore was very rewarding as we were afforded an opportunity to perform on invitation at the renowned Performing Arts Centre The Esplanade, which performance was well received by the audience and was an uplifting experience to all our members."

The Revelations are looking forward to other tours which have been lined up in the near future together with launching an original album of a-cappella music.
